I’m kind of re-organizing my online presence, and I’ve realized that two blogs are one too many. So instead of having two different blogs (SilentXpression and the lifestream), I’ve decided to end this one and I’ll probably expand the lifestream a little.
The decision wasn’t that hard actually. I’m terrible at updating this blog (as you’ve obviously noticed), so it’s been half-dead for quite a while now.
So if you’ve been following this blog, please consider subscribing to http://thelifestream.org/ instead. As I said I’ll expand it a little and probably write some more, as it’s been mostly pictures so far.
Finally I’d like to thank all of you for visiting this blog, and I hope to see you on the lifestream!
Take care! :)
A while ago I made a promise to myself not to buy more cameras. It didn’t take long before I broke the promise. And it’s all because of this:

Leica M3 from (I think) 1955, with a collapsible Elmar 5cm f3.5 lens.
Leica has always been a dream camera of mine, but I’ve never been able to afford one. The M3 has sort of been at the top of the list. It was introduced in 1954 and was the first Leica to incorporate the M mount for the lenses. The same lens mount that is still used today on brand new Leica cameras. The M3 was a revolutionary camera in many aspects, and remains a true classic.

Leica cameras are known for their mechanical perfection, and the lenses are among the best you can get. But it’s the feel of shooting with one that really amazed me. It’s unlike any other camera I’ve used, it’s pure pleasure. Sure, part of it is because I know it’s a Leica. But nevertheless, it’s the feel of using a camera that matters the most to me. That’s what usually brings me the best pictures in the end.

Anyway, I found this one on Ebay Sweden for a great price. Everything has been working great so far. It has a few cosmetic flaws, but I don’t mind. It’s a 57 year old camera, what did you expect? :)
As I mentioned earlier the camera came with a collapsible Elmar 50mm lens. But also a light meter, the Leica-meter MC, that works really well! You can see it mounted on the camera in the picture above.

I’ve posted a few pictured taken with it on my other blog, http://thelifestream.org/. I’ll also post some shots here in a future post. Stay tuned! :)
It’s been a while since I updated this blog, as it seems to be more often than not. There always seems to be some sort of distraction, keeping me from posting. Busy doing this, busy doing that.. Truth is it’s just bad excuses. One has to make time, and I’m not very good at that.
This time the distraction/excuse has been moving. Kristina and I recently moved to a new apartment, and it’s taken quite a lot of time and energy. It’s gonna be great when we finally get things in order. I like the new place, I’m getting a darkroom! :)
I’ve managed to update my other blog, Lifestream, every day since I started it a few weeks ago. That’s easier, one picture a day. It’s the writing that I find difficult and time consuming.
I’ve got another post coming soon, it’s about a broken promise. ;) Stay tuned!
My name is Simon Wallerstedt. I'm a photographer from Hultsfred, Sweden. I've been photographing since the summer of 2010 (not counting a few years of uninspired snapshots before that).
In October 2011 I switched from digital to film, mainly Black and White. The reason for this is that I love the look and feel of film photographs. I also enjoy the whole process. I develop the film myself and then scan the negatives into the computer.
The majority of my work is street photography, as well as some portraiture and some nature. Photographing people is what I'm most passionate about, either candidly on the street or more formal (or informal) portraits.
